The Manchester Deck Co imports Southern Yellow Pine directly from fully managed and sustained forests in the USA. Southern Yellow Pine is one of the strongest, hardest pines in the world, proving its worth over many decades of use in the USA. The timber has a warm natural tone, which can be left to silver, and a pronounced close grain, providing for a safe, slip resistant surface.

All timbers are kiln dried, pressure treated with ACQ and then re-kiln dried to stabilise the timber. This treatment ensures weatherproofing and resistance to soil and ground water contact, and allows for a guarantee against rot and decay for 30 years.

Southern Yellow Pine timber is graded according to its appearance, the durability, integrity and strength of the timber remains consistent throughout the grades. Clear grade is completely knot free, with a very clean profile, and used in radius edged deck boards and other smaller sections of timber suitable for balustrade and screens. Construction grade timber is selected for strength , not aesthetic, and is often knottier in its appearance.

All our fixings are A2, 305 marine grade stainless steel, giving excellent quality and longevity with a pleasing aesthetic. Decking screws are square or star heads and self counter sink.
